RFC Period Open until April 28
Scholar Snapp v3.0 and the accompanying Snapp Data Standard are scheduled for release on May 15, 2017. In advance of the release, the Snapp team is holding held a request for comments period, during which input and improvements are being were solicited from current and prospective implementers.
The RFC period has closed, but we welcome feedback any time. If you are a current or prospective implementer of the Snapp Data Standard or the Snapp Central API and would like to provide input or if you would like to be included in the next RFC, please send a note to Governance@scholarsnapp.org with your contact information.
Current Status
A preliminary draft of proposed changes is available here. The Snapp team is reaching out to implementers to discuss feedback on the preliminary draft and other proposed changes.
See the Snapp v3.0 RFC Notes section for additional detail about the feedback we've heard to date, and the open questions for the next revision.
Key Dates
- February 1, 2017. RFC period open.
- February 28, 2017. Snapp Data Standard v3.0a RFC released. File download and release notes are available here. This is the first draft of a revised XSD.
- March 31, 2017. Snapp Data Standard v3.0b RFC released. This is the second draft of a revised XSD. This draft will contain additional proposed revisions and will incorporate feedback.
- April 28, 2017. RFC input period closes. Bugs and critical issues will be fixed after this point, and non-breaking changes may be added, but major changes to the standard should be complete.
- May 15, 2017. Snapp Data Standard v3.0 finalized and released.
