This documentation outlines the listing criteria for the Scholar Snapp Go Apply page.

The criteria generally reflect the Scholar Snapp partner guidelines. To be clear, Scholar Snapp doesn't impose all these restrictions on scholarship listing services we feature in the Scholar Snapp solution. For example, some scholarship services have a not-unreasonable rationale for including, say, scholarships based on random chance. The Snapp mission and core beliefs are just more focused on opportunities based on academic achievement, selective eligibility, and financial need.

Go Apply Inclusion Criteria

To be included on the Scholar Snapp Go Apply list, a scholarship and its program providers:

  • Must follow the general guidelines put forth by the National Scholarship Providers Association (NSPA) for its membership, or equivalent legitimacy test. Membership in NSPA is encouraged but not required. Any member of the NSPA in good standing may have their scholarship programs listed regardless of the inclusion and exclusion criteria listed herein.
  • Must seek to foster a positive association within the scholarship community and the students they serve.
  • Must uphold standards of equality and not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, creed, national origin, age, sex, or sexual orientation. Having selective, inclusive eligibility criteria around these factors is, of course, allowed.
  • Must select scholarship recipients based on meaningful criteria, which may include academic merit, achievement despite life’s obstacles, financial need, gender, race, ethnicity, religious affiliation, geography, and/or other attributes.
  • Must serve students residing or planning to study in North America.
  • Must have an online application. Generally speaking, we do not consider a PDF or other printable form available on a website as an online application.

Additionally, we consider on a case-by-case basis:

  • Scholarship contests of an academic or creative nature. Generally speaking, nationwide essay contests with no other eligibility criteria are excluded.
  • Scholarships that assume a relationship with a business. Generally speaking, we do list scholarships for the benefit of existing employees or their children. We typically do not list scholarships that establish a new relationship as a condition of application.

Go Apply Exclusion Criteria

Generally speaking, the Scholar Snapp Go Apply list will exclude:

  • Scholarships awarded without meaningful criteria and/or on a completely random basis (e.g., through sweepstakes or a lottery).
  • Scholarships with entrance fees or that otherwise charge applicants for access to their scholarship award.
  • Scholarships that require a product purchase, endorsement, membership, or other commercial relationship to apply.
  • Scholarships that require a recommendation, social media post, or acquaintance's personal information to apply.
  • Scholarships that sell or distribute student information to third-party providers without a clear opt-in and opt-out for applicants.
  • Scholarships that are on our blacklist, which consist of scholarships that appear to be scams, click-bait, or are otherwise clearly engineered for the benefit of the provider, not the applicant
