Overview

The Member Site provides a user-friendly interface to explore the thousands of programs in the NSPA Exchange database. The search feature allows you to set a number of criteria and view what programs we have matching your criteria.

Accessing the Search

You can get to the search several ways. A consistent way is simply to click the magnifying glass in the menu that appears on every screen:

Clicking on the magnifying glass will take you the search screen. When you first see the screen, an unfiltered list of all programs is shown.

Using the Search

Using the search is easy. Simply add search criteria to on-screen form. The list will automatically update as you refine your criteria. The Clear Filters button will remove all criteria.

Search criteria are available for:

• Program Name or Keyword. A free-text field. Type anything! The search will look in the program name, the blurb (i.e., the brief description of the program), and the eligibility criteria descriptive text.

• Organization. Start typing the name and a dropdown list of all organizations with a similar name in the Exchange will appear (e.g., Community Foundation of…).

• Organization Type.

• Date. Allows you to search a range of application opening dates and deadlines.

  • On or After. The start of the selected date range.

  • On or Before. The end of the selected date range.

• Contest. Programs that are primarily contests (e.g., essay contests). Often, but not always, have limited eligibility criteria.

• Merit-Based. A scholarship that is based on academic merit.

• Need-Based. A scholarship that is based on financial need. Programs may be both merit and need-based.

• NSPA Member. Programs provided by current members of NSPA.

• Include Extended Data.

• Nationwide Programs. Programs that are open to students all over the U.S. or Canada, not based on a specific residency or college attendance requirement.

• Demographics. Programs that support applicants based on gender, LGBTQIA+, race, ethnicity, and ancestry.

• Citizenship Requirement.

• Current Grade Level. Grade level at the time of application for students (or prospective students).

• Seeking Degree. Narrows down programs specific to the degree the student is seeking. Note: Selecting ‘Undergraduate’ Degree' will pull programs that include both associate and bachelor’s degrees.

• College Attendance. Programs for students who plan to attend a specific college, university, or trade school, private or public (e.g,. The University of Southern Mississippi).

• Current School. Programs for current students attending that particular school.

• Unforseen Events. Programs that aim to support students who have been affected by a natural disaster or unforeseen events, such as Hurricane Katrina or September 11 attacks.

• Location. Where a student must live to be eligible for an award.

  • Country. (United States or Canada)

  • State. (includes U.S. Territories)

  • County.

  • City.

• Application Type. Online vs. Paper/PDF. Note: College Board does not display paper or PDF applications.
