PREVIOUS VERSION

This site is the documentation for a Scholar Snapp Austin (v3.0), a previous version of the Scholar Snapp Technology Suite.

The Snapp solution is currently backward-compatible with v3.0, but all new development projects should leverage Scholar Snapp Technology Suite Berkeley (v4.0).

Applicant User Experience

This section provides an overview of the user experience from an applicant's perspective.

Once a scholarship provider (or their chosen technology partner) has implemented the Scholar Snapp API, their scholarship applicants will be able securely transfer their confidential scholarship application data from ScholarSnapp.org to the scholarship provider’s online application. At a high level, the following diagram represents the applicant user experience.

Arrive on Scholarship Application Start Page

Most online scholarship applications feature a page displayed immediately before its data collection forms that explains the application process. Often, this page is displayed after an applicant has created a user account on the scholarship application’s website. This would typically be where an applicant would find the Scholar Snapp logo, which acts as a hyperlink to log into and download profile data from ScholarSnapp.org. Below is an example from the Dell Scholars Program application:

Click on Scholar Snapp Logo to Import Data

Once the applicant clicks on the Scholar Snapp logo, they will be directed to the Scholar Snapp login page to log in and authorize the data transfer.

Log In to Scholar Snapp Central

The applicant then logs into Scholar Snapp Central (ScholarSnapp.org) using the same log in page they use when accessing their profile directly:

Click “Allow Access” on Scholar Snapp Central

To ensure the applicant is fully aware that they are transferring their data to the scholarship provider from Scholar Snapp Central, they must click "Allow." If they do not, they will be redirected to the page from which they came on the scholarship’s online application.

Arrive on First Page of Application Wizard, Partly Filled Out

Once the applicant has authenticated with Scholar Snapp and explicitly allowed the data synchronization, the applicant will see the first page of the scholarship provider’s application wizard.

However, instead of being blank, the application form will be filled out with data from their Scholar Snapp profile, such as first name, last name, contact information, and so forth. From there, the applicant will be able to move through the rest of the online application, modifying any of the data imported from their Scholar Snapp profile. This experience should be identical to the experience of a returning applicant that saved their progress and came back later to complete the full application. This distinction is key to minimizing the impact of integrating Scholar Snapp imports into an existing online scholarship application.

Below is an example of a Dell Scholars Program application partly filled out with data from an applicant’s Scholar Snapp profile.
