Overview
The Member Site makes it easy to explore and analyze 14,000+ scholarship programs and hundreds of scholarship provider information. This page provides a quick tour of what you can do and why you might want to do it.
A Tour
We’ve written the quick start as a tour with a starting point and a logical sequence: but you can start anywhere you’d like. If you get stuck anywhere along the way, see the Help & Info section of this documentation.
To begin your tour, simply log in. You’ll use your existing NSPA Login:
Home Page
The home page does what you’d expect: provide easy links to things you can do on the site. For this tour, click My Programs.
Browse & Search
Clicking Program Search in the navigation menu will take you to a list of scholarship programs. Using the search criteria on the left side of the page, you can filter by many criteria. If you’re like us, you’ll be fascinated by what you can find. The Member Site Search page has more detail about what you can find using the search tool.
View Program Detail
Clicking on a program will take you to a page with additional detail:
View Organization Detail
Clicking on an organization name will take you to a page with detail about the organization.
View Comparison Reports
When you’re done exploring the list of individual scholarship programs, consider viewing the Comparison Reports. The Member Site currently has two: the Peer Comparison Report and the Eligibility Comparison Report.
Peer Organization Comparison Report
You can get to our first report by clicking the link on the Member Site Home Page labeled Peer Comparison Report. This will take you to the Peer Organization Comparison Report.
This report lets you compare up to four organizations along with a number of dimensions including the total award amount for their programs, whether their programs serve students with financial need, and so forth.
If you’re a program provider, the system will show your organizations — and will auto-select those that look like peers (e.g., those that are of the same general type and in your geographic location). As part of this tour, explore the settings available on the page: you can pick different dimensions across which to compare, and different ways to establish peers.
Program & Eligibility Comparison Report
After you’ve explored the Organization Comparison Report above, have a look at the Program & Eligibility Comparison report. You can get to this report by clicking the Criteria Comparison tab above the Peer Comparison Report, or by clicking on the home page.
This report works in the same general way as the Peer Organization Comparison Report we looked at above — but the dimensions for comparison are more focused on the eligibility criteria for the organization’s programs. This is super-interesting if you want to know more about who the organization’s programs are designed to serve.
Oh, and if you haven’t already, click on an organization’s logo — you’ll quickly see a list of the actual programs offered by the organization.
Wrapping Up
We hope the system is intuitive enough that you feel comfortable exploring further on your own. There are lots of interesting features (maps! links! etc.!) that probably don’t need explanation. If you get stuck or have any questions, see the Help & Info page on this site for more information.
